This Month’s Weekly Reckoning

Well, everybody, we’re getting ready to do a massive change to our Patreon set-up, that will add additional perks to you fine Patreon supporters, and will give your current tiers additional, until-now-undreamed-of rewards. These changes will benefit ALL OF YOU, EXCEPT (I’m sorry, guys, but I wanted to give you a month’s notice), the $1 level, which has become the Patreon-industry level for “Thanks so much for your kind, kind support, and at this level, you’re a super cool-and-kind best friend, willing to toss us a buck-a-month for our hard work, and you don’t need any rewards in return.”  I feel lousy about it, but… inflation, everyone!

But wait!… Our $2 level is going to combine our previous $1, $2, AND $4 levels! So we’re hopeful you kind $1-guys-and-gals might consider it “worth your while” bumping up a buck a month to continue riding with us!

As you can imagine, with this crazily humongo-re-vamp, we’ve hit some snags on such a change-over of this scale, not to mention the “Corona snags” that it would appear have affected the entire artistic community of the world.  We’ll have more info and surprises next week, and hope you can stick around until then to see what we’ve got in store!

For this month’s treasure trove of goodie-rewards:

(above: Steve Ditko packs his two most significant creations into one comic, when Spider-Man meets Dr. Strange in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #2 (1965).)

For YOU kind $1 Patrons, please enjoy this Letter I sent to Steve Ditko, and his response. Steve Ditko, with Stan Lee, created Spider-Man and Dr. Strange in the 1960’s, and he was a major inspiration to me as a child as well as now, as an adult. Which you can read about in my letter!

Also for YOU kind $1 Patrons, please enjoy the third and final installment of this never-before-published Dr. DeBunko adventure that I drew way back in 2009: “The Church of Fundamentalist Norse God Creationists!” If you enjoy my Dr. DeBunko comics, you can access a whole bunch of ’em HERE!

Also for YOU kind $4 Patrons, I posted Doris Danger (vol. 2, Chpt. 3), page 034, a Doris Danger GIANT MONSTER menacing the Arc de Triomphe!

And of course, plenty more “Diary of a Struggling Comics Artist videos,” alphabetically by the 100+ artists HERE, or by the reverse order they were published (newest first), HERE.

Lastly, for you kind $7 Patrons (soon to drop to the $4 level! ) I continue to add to these “across-the-exotic-globe” selfies of me talking about my Doris Danger comics!  Check out Fezzies (006) filmed in Apple Hill, CA, or the Eiffel Tower (page 012) filmed in New York, NY, and then click the “published” (or page number) button to see the comic that the videos refer to!

And did you hear?? Doris Danger has just been signed to Fantagraphics’ F.U. imprint. You can read the mission statement of F.U. – Fantagraphics underground –  HERE, and see some of the work they’ve published HERE!

Thanks, everybody, and I look forward to trying something new with you, if all goes well, beginning next month!
Sincerely,
Chris
