My best friend, Mike Ploog
I met Mike briefly in 2005 at Bristol Con. As with so many artists, I found him at his table, showed him a sample of what I was doing. and asked if I could commission him for a pin-up of a giant monster. He was easy to approach, but pretty busy. He gave me his contact info and said to go ahead and get in touch about a pin-up. I wrote him every month or so, but didn’t ever hear from him. At Comic-Con 2007, in San Diego, Mike was featured as a guest, and I poked around and finally found him one day, with my son in tow, to snap this picture:
I reminded him of our conversation at Bristol Con a couple years earlier, and he said he thought we could work something out. I found him another night, hanging out with Tim Bradstreet and Joe Jusko, and we snapped another pic:
