He painted brightly colored lip sticks, ice creams, and pies by applying paint so thickly and smoothly, it looked like frosting that you could practically taste. I was lucky to take three classes from him at U.C. Davis, and he truly inspired me to think about and appreciate art and art concepts. He didn\u2019t show up for school one day because he had to be flown to Washington, D.C. to receive an honor from the President. I didn\u2019t realize what an important part of art history my teacher was until years later.
