I met Dave Gibbons at the Bristol Con UK in 2005! He was on my list of British comics creators I was eager to meet, hence the reason for traveling out to this show! I hunted him down and asked if he would draw me a giant monster pin-up that I could publish in my Doris Danger Comics! To my delight, he said yes.<\/p>\n

That night, everyone was out at the bar of the hotel we were all staying at, and I timidly yearned to mingle with all these idols of mine. And my wife, Elizabeth, said, “C’mon, Chris, it’s no big deal to just say hi!” And since she didn’t read comics or know anyone and therefore felt no anxieties of “star-struckness,” she just jumped in and started talking with Dave, Brian Bolland, Liam Sharp, or Simon Bisley – about things besides comics! What a powerful tool I had in having her with me!<\/p>\n
